Abstract

In the past 18 months, COVID-19 has caused over 4 million reported deathsglobally and potentially serious long term complications for millions more. But the indirect impact of COVID-19 on health is probably even greater. Worldwide, COVID-19 and its associated lockdowns have had serious economic consequences, including increases in unemployment and poverty, which may lead to poorer long term health outcomes. In addition, the impact of the growing mental health issues arising out of enforced isolation and lack of human contact, are not fully known nor quantified.
