Abstract

Cervical cancer remains a highly prevalent and lethal disease in South Africa.1,2 Although the national Department of Health runs a formal cervical cancer screening programme, it has not been fully implemented and therefore screening is limited and opportunistic, resulting in some populations being over- and others underscreened.3-5 Unfortunately, it is usually the most destitute populations who are not screened.
