Abstract

Last night I had a dream. I dreamed that mothers-to-be had choices. I dreamed that their choices were based not on what the doctor wanted, or what the medical scheme would pay for, but on what would be best for the mom and her infant. In South Africa today, we have a number of factors which have reduced the ability of mothers to select the most suitable birthing option.
