Making sense of multidrug resistant organisms
Abstract
Making sense of all the available information regarding healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) with multidrug resistant organisms (MDROs) is something of a confusing nightmare for most practising nurses. The object of this article is to demystify some of the confusion and aid the nurse in her/his understanding of the role of MDROs, the variety thereof and management of these hospital pathogens, as well as the role that healthcare providers play in the development, transmission and prevention of healthcare acquired infections.
