Exudate management: Putting the patient first

  • L Naude

Abstract

Moist wound healing forms the basis of modern wound bed preparation. Not only does it improve healing, but it also reduces pain and discomfort as well as infection rates. Exudate is produced by the body as part of the normal physiological response to tissue damage. Our function as wound care practitioners should be to aid the body as facilitator for wound healing by controlling or balancing the moisture.
