Iron Deficiency (ID) and Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA)

  • E P G Mansvelt

Abstract

ID and IDA is the most common nutritional deficiency anaemia in the world and develop when an individual’s iron requirement and loss exceed the intake. Vulnerable target groups who have obvious causes for IDA can be directly treated with oral iron. Individuals without an obvious cause first need thorough investigations.
