Abstract
When discussing wound healing, it needs to be emphasised that wound care expertise consists of both evidence-based wound care knowledge and expert knowledge gained from clinical experience. The attitude and values that we as individuals bring to the practice are also invaluable.1 The main focus of wound care should always be on holistic wound management, incorporating products proven to facilitate wound healing. In this article, we will be aiming to shed some light on wound bed preparation and implications for the occurrence of infections in chronic wounds.
