Probiotics and Prebiotics
AbstractThe use of probiotics has been increasing over the years, and is mainly being used for antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Very often, the beneficial action of probiotics may either be seriously misunderstood or not acknowledged at all. This article provides an overview of probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics, including their mechanisms of action, clinical applications and available products on the South African market.
